The Coahuila State Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the death of 43-year-old Laura C. in Ciudad Acuña under femicide protocols. The prime suspect is her son, 23-year-old Salvador “N,” who remains in custody pending a determination of his legal status.
The incident took place on June 15, 2026, at a home in the Atilano Barrera neighborhood. Preliminary investigations suggest that a family dispute escalated into an attack involving a bladed weapon. Laura sustained at least three stab wounds, including a fatal wound to the neck. By the time emergency services arrived, the victim showed no signs of life.
Unofficially, neighbors indicated that the alleged attacker may have been under the influence of psychoactive substances, though this detail has not been officially confirmed and remains subject to forensic analysis.
The Criminal Investigation Agency processed the scene and secured evidence, including the weapon allegedly used. The Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation file under femicide protocols, adhering to guidelines that require an analysis of potential prior history regarding gender-based violence and other factors before filing formal charges.
Salvador “N” remains in custody while the corresponding legal proceedings are carried out. A hearing could be held in the coming hours to determine whether there is sufficient evidence to bind him over for trial.
Family and friends paid their final respects to Laura in Ciudad Acuña. Additionally, allegations have circulated on social media regarding the suspect’s alleged history of gender-based violence linked to incidents in 2024. Authorities are investigating whether there are formal complaints to substantiate these claims.
