El Armadillo arrested in Chietla

Puebla police and Navy personnel detained David “N,” known as El Armadillo, in Chietla, reporting ammunition and suspected drugs seized as patrols increased.

Puebla state police and Mexican Navy personnel arrested David “N,” a 29-year-old known as “El Armadillo,” in San Miguel La Toma, a community in Chietla. Authorities announced the capture Friday, followed by increased aerial and ground patrols across the municipality and surrounding areas.

Officers reported seizing ammunition classified as being for the exclusive use of the armed forces, cash and suspected drugs. Authorities did not disclose the ammunition’s caliber or quantity, the amount of money or the substances recovered.

Puebla’s Public Security Secretariat said David had a criminal record involving possession of a vehicle reported stolen and drug offenses. Investigators are also examining his possible involvement in homicides and local drug distribution, although the announcement identified no specific killings or evidence connecting him to them. Those allegations remain unresolved.

Following the arrest, federal, state and municipal authorities reinforced surveillance along highways, entrances and exits to Chietla, and neighboring areas. Officials said the expanded deployment was intended to maintain public order. The announcement did not specify how long the additional patrols would remain in place.
