Hugo “N,” alias “El 01”—identified by authorities as a key driver of violence operating in Sonora and Chihuahua—was arrested during an operation conducted by federal forces in coordination with the Sonora state government.
According to the Security Cabinet, the arrest resulted from intelligence and investigative work aimed at locating individuals allegedly linked to criminal activities in the country’s northern region.
Authorities stated that Hugo “N” is connected to various high-impact crimes and identified him as an alleged operative involved in violent acts across both states.
Security agencies attribute several activities to him, including the alleged use of drones to launch targeted attacks against both rival groups and members of security forces.
During the operation, agents seized a firearm restricted for exclusive military use that was in the detainee’s possession. Both the weapon and the suspect were turned over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
