Jenny, 47, and Nohemí, 9—both originally from Puebla—sustained injuries during an armed attack on the beaches of Tecolutla, Veracruz.
On the afternoon of Friday, April 24, 2026, armed men stormed the *palapas* (thatched-roof shelters) on a beach located in the community of Monte Gordo, searching for a local merchant.
The gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists. In the ensuing melee, two women from Puebla and a local vendor were struck.

The two adults and the minor were transported to the Nautla Hospital, where, as of this afternoon, they are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger.
At least twenty people suffered severe nervous shock after witnessing the attack at the beach *palapas* in Monte Gordo.

Most of the victims were visitors enjoying their stay. However, this experience has now become one of the worst memories of their lives.
Reportedly, Uriel—a 27-year-old native of Papantla, Veracruz—had been reported missing since February 2026, when he was forcibly abducted from his home in Gutiérrez Zamora.

This marks the second incident in less than a week in which women from Puebla have fallen victim to violence in Veracruz. On Sunday, April 20, on the Mexico-Tuxpan highway, state police officers shot and killed a physician named Bertha.
