Personnel from Argentina’s Airport Security Police (PSA), in coordination with Interpol, arrested 35-year-old Ana Carmen Sosa Cravioto at El Plumerillo International Airport in Mendoza province. She is the daughter of Gerardo Sosa Castelán, the former rector of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo (UAEH) and a former PRI deputy.
The arrest took place as the accused was preparing to board a flight to Chile; during the check-in process, her passport triggered a “Red Notice” for location and arrest, which had been issued in 2020 at the request of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR). According to investigations by the FGR and the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF), the detained woman was part of a financial network coordinated by her father to divert and launder funds from the UAEH.
Court records indicate that the accused and her sister received bank transfers totaling 806,769 pesos between 2014 and 2018 from the company Contabilidad del Siglo XXI; additionally, she is listed as a partner in real estate and construction firms linked to Gerardo Sosa Castelán’s family circle.
