Pablo “N” was arrested this Thursday, April 23, in Cintalapa, Chiapas—10 days after attacking his ex-partner, 27-year-old Ana Luisa “N,” with a machete and amputating both of her hands in front of their three minor children.

State Attorney General Luis Llaven Abarca further announced that the 500,000 pesos offered as a reward for his capture will be donated directly to the victim to cover her medical and family expenses, as the arrest was the result of intelligence operations conducted by the agency itself, meaning no private citizen was entitled to the funds.

It was on Monday, April 13, that Pablo “N” entered Ana Luisa’s home in the Los Manguitos neighborhood of Cintalapa, locked her in a room, and assaulted her with a bladed weapon.

The injuries she sustained resulted in the amputation of both hands and a head contusion. Her three children—aged 10, 8, and 6—witnessed the attack.
