Amy Navarrete Arriola, a former mayoral candidate for Matías Romero representing the Green Ecologist Party of Mexico (PVEM), was executed alongside two men this Tuesday afternoon in the town of Paso Guayabo, Oaxaca. The attack was a targeted strike carried out during a community celebration.
According to security agency reports, the incident occurred amidst festivities honoring the Virgin of the Nativity. A gunman approached the crowd and fired at the victims at point-blank range, killing three people instantly and causing panic among the attendees.
The deceased were identified at the scene as Amy Navarrete Arriola, a native of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region, and Carlos and Francisco M. M., residents of the Paso Guayabo community. Navarrete Arriola was the wife of Magistrate Enrique Pacheco Martínez, who was also murdered in September 2021.
State and municipal police officers arrived at the site to secure the perimeter and cordon off the crime scene, while paramedics confirmed that the three victims showed no signs of life due to gunshot wounds.
The Attorney General’s Office of Oaxaca (FGEO) deployed forensic personnel and opened an investigation to identify the assailant, determine the escape route, and clarify the motive behind the triple homicide in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec region.
