A home linked to César Millán Lafarga—owner and general director of the Culiacán, Sinaloa-based media outlet Grupo Adiscusión—was fired upon with a high-powered rifle on Friday morning. The property sustained material damage, but no injuries were reported.
The incident was immediately reported to authorities, who have launched an investigation to identify those responsible, according to a statement released by the media outlet itself.
This Friday’s attack marks the third act of aggression against Grupo Adiscusión: the first was the 2011 murder of its founder, Humberto Millán Salazar; the second was a shooting attack on the newspaper’s offices in June 2024.
The outlet demanded that authorities conduct an investigation characterized by “promptness, impartiality, professionalism, and total transparency.”
Grupo Adiscusión stated that the targeted home had belonged to Humberto Millán Salazar—a journalist, founding partner of the outlet, and father of César Millán Lafarga.
Security cameras captured the attack, which took place at 8:27 a.m. on July 17. Footage shows a white Volkswagen circling the area several times prior to the incident. A man stepped out of the vehicle carrying what appeared to be an AK-47-style long gun and fired at the façade of the private residence.
