The receptionist assaulted on June 29 at the Park Life Paradox hotel in Santa Fe (Cuajimalpa borough) has broken her silence after video of the attack went viral on social media. In an interview, the victim recounted the exact moment of the assault and reported that the establishment’s security staff failed to intervene despite her pleas.

“During the assault, I was screaming for help, begging them to stop him, but the man just kept saying there was nothing he could do—that he couldn’t stop the guest,” the employee recounted.

According to her testimony, the aggressor had already exhibited violent behavior since checking into the hotel—a situation she claims was ignored by the staff. The root of the altercation, she said, was “absurd”: a WhatsApp message regarding a package that wasn’t even scheduled to arrive that day.

The man identified as the aggressor is Octavio Jorge Cortés Jiménez, a businessman originally from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, who lists Aguascalientes as his place of residence. Footage shows the man pounding on the counter and shouting at the employee before striking her in the face, snatching her cell phone, knocking her to the ground, and kicking her. The incident has led to the opening of an investigation file by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX).
