Cristhian Guadalupe “N”—alias “El Texas”—identified as the local leader (*jefe de plaza*) for the “Los Chapitos” faction in Culiacán, Sinaloa, died on July 8, 2026, during a joint operation carried out by personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA) in coordination with the Sinaloa Secretariat of Public Security. This was reported by Omar Hamid García Harfuch, head of the federal Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
According to the federal official, military personnel dismantled a criminal cell linked to Los Chapitos in Culiacán—a group identified as a primary source of violence in the state. During the operation, military personnel came under fire; while repelling the attack in self-defense, “El Texas” was killed.
A statement from the Mexican Army indicated that “El Texas” had assumed leadership of the area on May 23, 2025, following the death of Jorge Humberto “N”—alias “La Perris” or “El 27.” From that date onward, authorities identified him as the main driver of violence in Sinaloa, responsible for ordering murders of rival group members, as well as kidnappings, extortion, and vehicle theft.
The events took place at an apartment complex in the Infonavit Humaya sector, where security forces had initially deployed an operation after receiving a citizen report regarding armed individuals at the location. During the initial intervention, authorities detained four people and seized two vehicles, weapons, and tactical gear. Subsequently, while the property was being inspected, the attack on military personnel occurred, resulting in the death of “El Texas.”
