On the afternoon of June 2, the Government of Veracruz announced the deployment of a search and locate operation following the abduction of journalist Roxana Berenice Guzmán Ramírez, director of the news portal *Pulso Informativo del Sureste*.
At least three armed men forcibly removed Guzmán from her home in Nanchital earlier that same morning.
According to authorities, the Veracruz Secretariat of Public Security is spearheading the efforts—actions that reportedly began the moment officials became aware of the incident.
The Secretariat of the Navy, the National Guard, and the Ministerial Police of the State Attorney General’s Office are also involved in the operation, making it a joint effort comprising both federal and state forces.
Furthermore, it was confirmed that, in parallel with these efforts, the Veracruz Attorney General’s Office has opened a formal investigation—channeled through the Coatzacoalcos Regional Prosecutor’s Office—to clarify the facts, locate the victim, and identify those responsible.
The case gained significant traction on social media and in national news outlets following the circulation of footage showing heavily armed individuals storming the residence where the journalist was present; the video depicts them smashing the glass at the entrance and aiming long-barreled weapons into the interior of the home.
