Four recent violent incidents in Culiacán, Sinaloa—unofficially linked to the territorial dispute between “Los Chapitos” and “La Mayiza”—have once again focused public attention on the investigation into the femicide of Valeria Márquez, an influencer shot to death in May 2025 while conducting a live stream at her beauty salon.
Over the past few weeks, at least four homicides recorded in the Sinaloan capital have shared an unusual element: alongside the victims’ bodies, the alleged perpetrators left behind pink pig-shaped stuffed toys—a detail that, to date, lacks any official explanation.
The matter gained national prominence after journalist Nacho Lozano highlighted the series of cases on his news program. Among the documented incidents is the murder of a man traveling by car, whose body was found next to one of these stuffed animals. A day later, another crime recorded in downtown Culiacán exhibited the exact same pattern.
The list also includes the homicide of a minor in the Rubén Jaramillo neighborhood, as well as the discovery of a deceased teenager on a sidewalk on May 16. In both of these cases, a pink piglet was also found at the scene.
