Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán confirmed that the body found this Tuesday, May 19, is that of Yulixa Toloza, who had been missing since Wednesday, May 13.

Through his social media accounts, the mayor confirmed that the body found in Apulo, Cundinamarca, is that of the woman authorities were searching for after her disappearance following a visit to a beauty salon in southern Bogotá.

“I have been in contact with her mother, Nubia Toloza, to whom I expressed my deepest condolences. Yulixa’s murder saddens us all in Bogotá,” Mayor Galán stated.

“Yulixa was murdered. It wasn’t medical malpractice; it was murder,” the mayor added.

According to a statement released by the Prosecutor’s Office in the afternoon, a body with morphological similarities to that of Yulixa was found on the side of the road in the Cundinamarca municipality located 101 kilometers from Bogotá. However, confirmation was not made until the Judicial Police completed all the necessary verifications.

This is how Yulixa Toloza disappeared after undergoing a cosmetic procedure in Bogotá.

Yulixa Toloza, a 52-year-old stylist, was on her way to the Beauty Laser aesthetic center, located in the Tunjuelito district, south of Bogotá, on Wednesday, May 13, to undergo laser lipolysis, a procedure also known as laser lipo or laser liposuction.

Toloza arrived at the center around 8:00 a.m., and her relatives last saw her around 4:00 p.m. However, friends who had accompanied her recounted in testimonies known to authorities and local media that, despite not seeing any improvement in the woman’s condition, the staff at the facility told them it was due to the sedation.

However, everything worsened that evening when they went to bring Toloza personal belongings, as no one else was there. Friends and family contacted the staff by phone. They responded that Yulixa had gotten up and left on her own, but then they stopped responding and deleted their social media accounts.

According to the investigation, the woman was taken away by two men, who put her in a gray Chevrolet Sonic with license plate UCQ-340, which was found in Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, and is now in the custody of the authorities.

The car used to transport Yulixa Toloza from Bogotá after surgery at an illegal clinic has been found in Cúcuta.

The Prosecutor’s Office has issued arrest warrants for five people, two of whom have already been detained: Jesús Hernández Morales and Kelvis Sequera Delgado. The list of those wanted includes the owner of the clinic where Yulixa allegedly underwent the procedure, her partner, the man who supposedly performed the surgery, and two individuals accused of participating in the transport and concealment of the vehicle, which has now been located.
