In a press release, Morena condemned the physical assault against its District 4 candidate, Delia Aurora Hernández Alvarado, and members of her campaign team, which was perpetrated during political activities in San Pedro, Coahuila. According to the party, an armed group—wielding bats and metal bars—attacked the local legislator and her companions, thereby endangering their lives.
The party asserted that the aggression directed at Hernández Alvarado constitutes the crime of attempted femicide, noting that this assault is part of a broader act of political violence that placed the lives of the campaign team members at risk.
In the document, they directly identify Edgar Sánchez of the PRI-UDC (Institutional Revolutionary Party – Democratic Unity of Coahuila) as the individual allegedly responsible for coordinating the attack. Furthermore, Morena urged the State Attorney General’s Office to investigate the assault as “attempted homicide” and to “refrain from downplaying an attack that included direct threats against a local legislator, as well as acts clearly intended to instill fear and political intimidation.”
