Two members of the Sinaloa Cartel—specifically from the “Los Chapitos” faction—were arrested following raids conducted in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.

According to the investigation, the men were identified as Efraín “N”—who occupies the third tier of the faction’s criminal hierarchy—and Jesús Miguel “N,” who is positioned at the fourth tier of the group.

The arrests took place after authorities identified two properties linked to the criminal group—located in the Lomas de Mazatlán and Jabalines neighborhoods—for which search warrants were subsequently obtained.

During the operation, authorities seized various items, including firearms (among them a Barrett rifle), quantities of narcotics, mobile phones, an armored SUV, four grenades, ammunition magazines, and radio communication equipment.

Authorities estimated that the seizure deals an economic blow to the organization’s financial structure amounting to approximately 2,502,062 pesos.

These actions stem from the arrest of Saúl Iribe Escobosa—alias “Tío Miguel”—on March 30; he had served as the leader of the criminal cell dedicated to street-level drug trafficking in Mazatlán.

Subsequently, intelligence operations led to the identification of Efraín “N” as his successor within the organization’s hierarchy.

Personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) participated in the operation.
