The Office of Foreign Assets Control of the United States Department of the Treasury carried out a new sanction this April 14 against two casinos and three alleged operators of the Northeast Cartel.
In the statement, it stands out that the authorities of that country once again mentioned the rapper Ricardo Hernández Medrano, better known as “El Makabelico” or “El Comando Exclusivo”, reaffirming the alleged financial collaboration that the singer would have had with the criminal organization.
The US authority recalled that on August 6, 2025, it designated three high-ranking members of the cartel and Hernández, whom they called infamous for providing support to the Northeast Cartel using streaming platforms and concerts to generate income and launder the organization’s money.
The case of “El Makabelico” was taken up again in the context of the new sanctions as an example of how the Northeast Cartel resorts to different mechanisms to support its financial operations, including through entertainment and music.
