The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora is maintaining an open investigation following the deaths of six people resulting from the administration of vitamin IV drips in Hermosillo.

The case involves Jesús Maximiano “N,” a 65-year-old general practitioner identified as the individual responsible for prescribing, preparing, and administering the intravenous solutions at a private clinic that had been operating since 2004. The clinic was shut down on April 1st, and the doctor is currently considered a “person of interest” by authorities.

Jesús Maximiano “N” holds a degree as a physician and surgeon from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara and possesses a valid professional license. He has been practicing in Hermosillo for over two decades—initially as a general practitioner, and later shifting his focus toward aesthetic and biological medicine, as well as procedures such as liposuction, thread lifts, and homotoxicology.

The IV drip treatments were administered both at the clinic and at patients’ homes, with costs ranging between 500 and 1,000 Mexican pesos per dose.

The irregularities detected by authorities include patient records, medications, and medical supplies—all of which were seized during a search warrant execution—as well as video recording devices.

According to information confirmed by a federal health official to journalist Michelle Rivera, the IV administration sets and tools used by Jesús Maximiano “N” were found to be contaminated. Authorities also detected the use of pre-filled syringes containing various solutions, as well as illicit surgical materials, within the medical office.
