The war that the United States and Israel launched last Saturday in Iran reportedly killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other top commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, but hundreds more died in the attacks. On the US side, six soldiers were killed.
The Department of Defense has released the identities of four of them. All perished a day after the start of Operation Epic Fury, when, in response to the attack, Iran launched missiles and drones against Israel and several Gulf states hosting US troops. The soldiers were part of the 103rd Sustainment Command based in Kuwait, which provides food, fuel, water, ammunition, transport equipment, and other supplies.
“Their sacrifice and that of their families will never be forgotten,” said Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, commanding general of the US Army Reserve Command, in a statement. “The incident is under investigation,” the Department of Defense added in the statement releasing the victims’ identities.
