British police arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, on Thursday following new revelations linking him to the Jeffrey Epstein case.

The brother of Charles III and son of Elizabeth II was arrested at his Norfolk residence on his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office and for his connection to the American financier’s sex trafficking ring, according to the BBC.

This arrest, confirmed in a statement by Thames Valley Police, comes after the release of millions of documents by the U.S. Department of Justice, which point to possible leaks of sensitive British government information by Andrew to Epstein.

Beyond the legal and media impact of his arrest, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s public career included years of diplomatic and commercial roles representing the United Kingdom. Before his name became associated with international investigations, the then Duke of York maintained an active official schedule in various countries, including Mexico, where he made two official visits focused on economic and cultural promotion.

The first time he visited Mexico, Prince Andrew spent four days in the country in February 2010, when he was serving as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.
