Federal authorities dealt a major blow to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) structure with the arrest of two alleged operational leaders during coordinated operations in Jalisco and Nayarit.
In Zapopan, Jalisco, members of the National Guard and the Army raided a residence where they arrested 26-year-old José Gabriel ‘N,’ alias ‘Uber,’ leader of a criminal cell. He is considered one of the main instigators of violence in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, where he was responsible for drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping, homicide, and arms trafficking.
He was arrested along with Mauricio ‘N’ and Carlos Alberto ‘N.’ Authorities seized a rifle, two handguns, three magazines, ammunition, 500 doses of methamphetamine, five vehicles, a property, and 10 cell phones.
In a parallel operation in Tepic, Nayarit, members of the Mexican Army, National Guard, and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) arrested 46-year-old Luis Ignacio “N,” alias “Cárdenas.” He is a regional operative in Nayarit and Jalisco, where he coordinated drug trafficking by air and sea, using aircraft and small boats, through a network of airstrips and ports. He also maintained communication with financial agents to conduct money laundering operations for the criminal group.
Federal authorities reported that the detainees were turned over to judicial authorities and reiterated that these seizures are part of the strategy to weaken the operational and financial structures of criminal groups operating in western Mexico.
