Harfuch reports that Father Bertoldo Pantaleón’s driver is being investigated for homicide: “It’s one of the Prosecutor’s Office’s hypotheses.”

During his morning press conference, Omar García Harfuch, head of the Mexico City Secretariat of Security and Protection (SSPC), gave details about the murder of the priest, Bertoldo Pantaleón.

García Harfuch said that, according to reports from the Prosecutor’s Office, Bertoldo was murdered in his truck; everything indicates that his driver committed the crime.

“Everything indicates it’s his own driver. We’re searching for him; we don’t have a motive yet. At the moment, we have no knowledge of any threats; we will investigate further with local authorities,” he said.

The victim was 58 years old and was originally from Cocula, a municipality located in the northern region of Guerrero. Bertoldo Pantaleón Estrada was reported missing over the weekend.

On Monday afternoon, the Diocese of Chilpancingo-Chilapa issued an obituary confirming the death of the parish priest of the community of Mezcala, in the municipality of Eduardo Neri, Guerrero.

His body was found at kilometer 199 of the Mexico-Acapulco federal highway, between Zumpango (municipal seat of Eduardo Neri) and the point known as Milpillas.
