Trade disputes between China and the United States are shaking up the global toy industry, which has found a place to continue exporting in Mexico, which is why they are bringing part of their manufacturing to the country.
In 2024, the value of production in this sector in Mexico totaled 7 billion 87.7 million pesos, more than double the figure reported a year earlier, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).
Even data from the first two months of this year show a 27.5 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, which indicates that the expansion strategy of companies in the country continues.
While the value of toy exports in the first quarter of 2025 totaled $608.6 million, 13 percent higher than the same period last year, also setting a new record for the industry for a similar period.
The president of the Mexican Toy Industry Association (AMIJU), Miguel Ángel Martín González, believes that the imposition of tariffs by the United States on Mexico is not scaring away investment; on the contrary, he sees a positive outlook for the national industry.
He revealed that the global toy industry is valued at $100 billion, of which the United States alone consumes $40 billion.
