The Christmas Hits playlist became the No. 1 playlist on Spotify in the U.S. this week, with almost double the streams than this time last year.
People are starting to stream holiday music earlier each year.
Spotify released its 2024 Spotify Singles Holiday Collection one month earlier than usual this year, accommodating early listeners.
On Nov. 1, Spotify saw dozens of Christmas songs surge, including classics like Eartha Kitt’s “Santa Baby” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which re-entered Spotify’s Daily Top U.S. Chart this month.
From Oct. 31 to Nov. 1, “Christmas Dreaming” by Laufey saw a 1,450% increase in streams, “The Christmas Waltz” by Laufey saw a 1,090% increase, and “Christmas Tree Farm — Old Timey Version” by Taylor Swift hit a 1,020% increase.
Sabrina Carpenter’s “white xmas” (+400%) and “buy me presents” (+390%) also saw spikes.
