Members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) released a video showing the interrogation and subsequent beheading of an individual identified as a leader of one of the operational units of “La Mayiza”—a faction linked to the Sinaloa Cartel. The incident is tied to an ongoing territorial dispute between the two criminal groups in the state of Zacatecas.

In the footage, the captive—a native of the municipality of Jerez, Zacatecas—states that he was taken prisoner following a clash in the municipality of Tepetongo, Zacatecas.

During the recording, the man claims that operational commanders within the state police force in the Jerez and Tepetongo areas provide logistical support and protection to his criminal cell.

Furthermore, as part of a propaganda strategy—employed by the criminal organization in response to pressure from Federal Government operations targeting their financial and operational structures (which are linked to extortion, kidnapping, and the collection of illicit “fees”)—the captors forced the detainee to allege ties between federal forces and the rival group.

The CJNG members accuse the opposing faction of extorting cattle ranchers and controlling beer sales in Jerez, Zacatecas—a form of extortion and commercial monopolization that the CJNG itself carries out in other municipalities across the country. The recording concludes with the beheading of the victim.
