An armed attack inside the TaiPak restaurant, located in the Tres Ríos district of Culiacán, left one person dead and six injured, including 21-year-old *corrido* singer Víctor Valverde.
The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, September 24, around 7:50 PM, when an armed group entered the Chinese restaurant and opened fire on diners using both long guns and handguns.
The body of the deceased victim was found inside the premises, located at the intersection of Enrique Sánchez Alonso Boulevard and Diego Rivera Street.
Initial reports indicate that an armed group arrived in late-model vehicles at the shopping plaza where TaiPak is located. The assailants got out and began firing at the people inside the establishment.
Following the attack, the perpetrators fled the scene; no arrests have been reported so far. Authorities have not disclosed how many individuals participated in the assault or whether they had a specific target inside the restaurant.
Witnesses and restaurant staff called emergency services, prompting an immediate response from security forces and rescue teams.
Names that have emerged in preliminary reports include musician Víctor Valverde (21), Ángel Fernando “N” (21), Rubén Alberto “N” (25), María Isabel “N” (72), Edgar Yair “N” (23), and Luis Eliseo “N” (21).
Authorities have not publicly released a complete official list of the six injured individuals, nor has the identity of the deceased been confirmed. Some local media outlets identify Rubén Alberto “N” as the fatality, while others list him among the injured. The injured individuals were transported to various hospitals in Culiacán by paramedics, who arrived at the scene with at least six ambulances to treat those wounded by gunfire.
Sinaloa-born singer Víctor Valverde—co-writer of tracks such as “El Mayor de los Ranas” alongside JR Torres—sustained a gunshot wound to the arm while dining at the restaurant. A photograph circulating on social media confirmed his presence at the scene.
Valverde, a native of El Dorado with long-standing ties to Culiacán, emerged as a prominent figure in the new generation of Regional Mexican music and *corridos tumbados*. His repertoire includes songs such as “Subí a la Blindada,” “Mamoncita,” “Infiltrados,” and “Estoy Carita.”
