Agents from the Baja California State Citizen Security Force (FESC) arrested two criminal targets—allegedly linked to a criminal network operating in Mexicali’s Venustiano Carranza neighborhood—during an operation conducted shortly after 12:00 PM on Monday, June 8.
Furthermore, intelligence analysis indicates that the detained individuals are connected to a group associated with a recently arrested criminal known as “El Mike.” They are also allegedly implicated in an armed attack on a police outpost that occurred following the capture of that criminal leader from the Carranza neighborhood.
The arrest took place while state agents were conducting patrols on 86th Avenue in the Venustiano Carranza neighborhood and spotted a 2013 Nissan Versa parked irregularly.
At that moment, one of the vehicle’s occupants stepped out and attempted to flee toward a seemingly abandoned building. Agents noticed what appeared to be a firearm tucked into the individual’s waistband and managed to intercept him before he could enter the property.
Following a precautionary search, the man—identified as 42-year-old Carlos Alberto “N,” a native of Mexicali—was taken into custody; he was found in possession of a firearm equipped with a magazine containing 15 live rounds.
