A federal judge in the Southern District Court of New York authorized the postponement of the hearing for Servando Gómez Martínez, alias “La Tuta,” former leader of La Familia Michoacana and the Knights Templar cartel, due to the possibility of reaching an agreement with U.S. authorities.

The drug trafficker’s hearing was originally scheduled for December 9, 2025, but has been rescheduled for March 17, 2026, three months later, according to the Zeta Weekly.

“La Tuta” faces two counts of conspiracy to import cocaine and methamphetamine into the United States, which could carry a sentence of up to 40 years in prison.

If he reaches an agreement and pleads guilty, the drug trafficker’s sentence could be significantly reduced.
