On May 31, 2019, visitors explored the planet Batuu for the very first time—an interstellar port located within what was then the newest land at the Disneyland Resort, better known as “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.”
From the very beginning, this world was fascinating, thanks to the lavish attention to detail found in its shops, restaurants, market stalls, and—of course—the incredible replica of Han Solo’s famous ship, the *Millennium Falcon*. However, there was no trace of Solo to be found there; the area was populated primarily by characters from the *Star Wars* films released long after the original trilogy of the late 1970s—figures such as Kylo Ren and Rey. It was, in short, the era of the Resistance and the First Order.
But in May 2026, everything changed with the arrival of Darth Vader and the Imperial Stormtroopers, along with Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Luke Skywalker, to Batuu—bringing with them even John Williams’ famous score, which now fills the entire Black Spire Outpost. “We knew Vader had to make an appearance,” admitted Michael Serna, Executive Creative Director at Disney Live Entertainment. “He is the iconic villain—the greatest villain of all time, in my opinion.”
New storylines have also been integrated into the retail spaces; for instance, “First Order Cargo” will now be known as “Black Spire Surplus.” Additionally, “Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities” now offers a diverse array of curiosities and artifacts to choose from—particularly with the launch of the *Aurebesh Collection*. Now available at various retail locations, the collection features items such as the *Salvaged Protocol Droid Bucket*, the *Bantha Sipper* cup, and lightsaber-shaped beverage stirrers—just a few of the many souvenirs available to take home.
