Football legends and current Fox Sports (USA) analysts Zlatan Ibrahimović and Thierry Henry heaped praise on the Mexican national team following their victory over Ecuador. They also highlighted the performance of the World Cup’s youngest player, Gilberto Mora; at just 17, he has not only established himself as a key figure for *El Tri* but has also emerged as a rising talent to watch on the international stage.

On Tuesday, Mexico faced the South American side in the Round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup. The match ended in a 2-0 victory for the Mexicans, with goals from Julián Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez.

“Quiñones—given how he’s played since the start of the tournament—Jiménez… and Mora, too. Let’s not forget the young kid playing in midfield. He controls the game, understands when to slow things down versus when not to rush a counterattack, and wins important fouls,” Henry noted.

For his part, the Swede highlighted the maturity “Morita” has shown in his approach to matches and the value he brings to the national team.

“At 17, he played like he was 30. He never shied away from the action, always asked for the ball, and made decisions like a seasoned pro. That kid has something special,” he said.
