The Fourth District Court for Criminal Matters in Toluca dismissed the *amparo* petition filed by Teodoro García Simental—known as “El Teo”—in which he alleged acts of torture, harassment, and cruel treatment at the El Altiplano maximum-security federal prison, according to *La Jornada*.
The petition was dismissed because the inmate failed to ratify the complaint; consequently, the judge revoked the immediate suspension order that had previously been granted to protect his rights while the case was under review.
García Simental, identified as a former operative for the Arellano Félix Cartel, is serving a 20-year prison sentence and faces various investigations for organized crime-related offenses.
