Two Mexican nationals were arrested in Medellín, Colombia, after being identified as alleged liaisons for the Sinaloa Cartel involved in drug trafficking. The arrested individuals are wanted by United States authorities.
The arrest of the two men was announced on June 18 by Colombian Defense Ministry official Pedro Arnulfo Sánchez, who highlighted that the arrests represent a “direct blow” to alliances between criminal organizations.
“The arrested individuals were allegedly liaisons for the Sinaloa Cartel tasked with coordinating cocaine trafficking with criminal structures of the EGC/Clan del Golfo, thereby strengthening international corridors for shipping drugs to various markets,” stated the Colombian official.
Arnulfo Sánchez’s message included a video showing the Mexican nationals in custody. The operation to capture the men involved Colombian National Police officers working in coordination with the Attorney General’s Office; both Colombian agencies collaborated with the U.S. Marshals and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
