The Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has opened an investigation into the homicide of Luis Ballardo López Corral, a 31-year-old businessman linked to the restaurant and bar sector in Morelia. His body was found on Monday, July 20, on a dirt road in the town of Cuanajillo del Toro, near the Morelia-Pátzcuaro federal highway.
López Corral had been reported missing since July 18. Family and friends had launched a social media search campaign featuring a flyer with his physical description: 1.75 meters tall, athletic build, light brown complexion, short dark brown hair, a full beard, and a tattoo on his right forearm.
An autopsy performed by FGE forensic experts revealed that the cause of death was a severe impact to the chest. The blow left no visible external marks, leading investigators to initially consider the hypothesis of cardiorespiratory arrest. Subsequent forensic analysis ruled out that theory and confirmed the death as a homicide.
