Police officers transferred Argentine national Fernando Cerimedo—a close advisor to President Rodrigo Paz—from the Palace of Justice to Palmasola prison in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. He will remain there in pre-trial detention for 180 days over the alleged attempted femicide of his ex-partner, lawyer Nadia Beller.
The far-right political operative—who has worked with figures such as Argentine President Javier Milei and former Brazilian leader Jair Bolsonaro—was arrested by Bolivian police after being accused of hiring hitmen who attempted to assassinate Beller on Monday night.
Cerimedo will spend the first night of his nearly six-month stint at Palmasola prison today, after a judge ordered the “application of the exceptional measure of pre-trial detention for 180 days.” Prosecutor Yolanda Aguilera reported the decision, noting that although Chonchocoro prison was initially designated, it was ultimately determined that he would be held at the Palmasola facility.
