The Paraguayan government expelled Hernán Bermúdez Requena, the former head of the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection of Tabasco, who was detained in that country last Friday.
The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection announced this Wednesday, September 17, that once he sets foot in Mexico, he will be transferred to the Altiplano maximum-security federal prison in the State of Mexico.
According to the agency headed by Secretary Omar García Harfuch, the expulsion was ordered after the Paraguayan government verified that Bermúdez Requena had entered the country illegally.
He detailed that members of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), the SSPC, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Migration Institute (INM), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) went to Paraguay to transfer him to Mexico, where the arrest warrant against him will be executed and he will be placed at the disposal of the requesting authority.
Omar García Harfuch, head of the SSPC, reported on this expulsion on his X account and thanked the Paraguayan authorities.
“Thanks to the coordinated work of @GabSeguridadMX, @FGRMexico, the National Intelligence Center, @SRE_mx, and @INAMI_mx, with the support of the Paraguayan authorities, Hernán “N” is being transferred to our country to execute the arrest warrant against him.
