Jorge Armando Genaro Rubio—a member of the MORENA party and the municipal president of Tlalnepantla, Morelos—was arrested on the night of Saturday, April 25. Reports indicate that he was detained due to his alleged involvement in the crime of sexual abuse against a minor.
The arrest took place on the night of Saturday, April 25, along the Yautepec-Tlayacapan highway, when Municipal Police officers intervened near the Pantitlán neighborhood and took the mayor into custody.
According to authorities, the mayor was placed at the disposal of the Regional East Prosecutor’s Office.
The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) confirmed that the mayor’s legal status will be determined in the coming hours, as the investigative file is being compiled in accordance with victim protection protocols.
Jorge Armando Genaro Rubio assumed office for the 2025–2027 constitutional term after being elected in the previous elections, running as the candidate for the Solidarity Encounter Party (PES).
