Kylian Mbappé on Monday called the Paraguayan senator “despicable” and “unworthy of her position” after she made racist comments about the footballer following Paraguay’s 1-0 defeat to France last Saturday in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.

“Ms. Celeste Amarilla, you are a despicable woman and unworthy of your position,” the French national team captain declared in a message on X.

“You do not represent Paraguay, a country that has displayed passion and honor throughout the entire competition. Because of your recklessness and uninhibited racism, the whole world has already forgotten the journey and the historic effort that its players made during this World Cup, to make room for an incompetent woman who presents the worst possible image of her country,” he added.

“I will never allow people like her to have the freedom to spread their hatred and racism throughout the world,” concluded the Real Madrid striker.

Madame Celeste Amarilla,

You are a woman who is worthy and unworthy of function.
You will not represent Paraguay, where the passion and honor will transpire throughout the competition. For your inconscience and your décomplex racism, the world understands déjà… pic.twitter.com/EnYmgQXvPL

France eliminated Paraguay from the World Cup last Saturday 1-0, a penalty goal from Mbappé, in a tough and difficult match.

At the end of the match, Mbappé, furious at what he perceived as excessive roughness from the Paraguayan players, refused to shake hands with Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill.

Through the social media platform X, Senator Amarilla criticized the French footballer’s attitude, alleging racist undertones: “That brute never even learned to write, instead of sucking on his mother’s milk he sucked on coconuts, and the most educated thing he ever heard was chimpanzees. You should have given him the finger, Orlando Gill, I do it in the Senate and nothing happens!!!” she wrote in a message.

Complaint filed with the prosecutor’s office

“A colonized Cameroonian, pretending to be tough as a Frenchman, resentful, nouveau riche, arrogant, and ugly. He was nervous and terrified the entire match, like his whole team; they couldn’t score a single goal, they won by sheer luck… The only thing many of us criticize the Paraguayan national team for is not giving him a good slap after the match ended. And I’m not even a football fanatic,” she added in another message.

Brutus never even learned to write, instead of sucking on his mother’s milk he sucked on coconuts, and the most educated people I’ve ever heard were chimpanzees. You should have given him the finger, Orlando Gill. I do it in the Senate and nothing happens!!!

The French Football Federation (FFF) joined the criticism of the footballer and called Amarillo’s words “abject and unacceptable.”

“These comments dishonor those who make them and those who spread them. The players of the French National Team represent France; it is our country that is being insulted,” the FFF added in its statement.
