The man killed in a Zona Rosa restaurant could be Óscar Noé Medina González, known as El Panu, the last head of security for Los Chapitos, the Sinaloa Cartel’s secret police.
According to Carlos Jiménez, journalist and host of the program C4 en Alerta, the victim’s identity is being investigated following the attack at the Luaú restaurant, located at the corner of Hamburgo and Niza streets.
The man’s partner said the victim’s name was Óscar Ruiz; however, the source indicated there are signs that it was actually El Panu, who had arrived in Mexico City from Sinaloa two days before the murder.
Jiménez also stated that El Panu’s mother, identified as Guadalupe González, confirmed that the victim was her son, Óscar Noé.
The woman stated that she is a farmer in the state of Durango and that she did not know what her son did for a living, despite the United States offering a reward for his capture.
It was initially reported that the murdered man was a partner in a hotel chain in Mazatlán. The assailant fired at least 12 shots.
The investigation is being handled by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) of Mexico City.
