The Guanajuato State Attorney General’s Office conducted raids on various establishments selling alcoholic beverages in the municipality of Irapuato as part of an investigation into the death of a man who had reportedly consumed suspected adulterated tequila.
The operation took place along Mariano J. García Boulevard in the La Ganadera neighborhood, where investigative agents, forensic experts, and members of the Special Immediate Reaction Group (GERI) inspected several businesses to gather evidence that could help determine the origin of the beverage in question.
Personnel from the National Guard also participated in the operation, securing the area while Attorney General’s Office staff conducted inspections and seized products for analysis.
The investigation stems from the death of 52-year-old José Luis Arroyo Guevara, who had been hospitalized after suffering severe poisoning. The victim’s family stated that he was brain-dead for several days before his death was confirmed.
