Julieta Ramírez Padilla, Morena’s coordinator in Baja California and a hopeful for the 2027 gubernatorial race, avoided answering journalists who questioned her about alleged links between individuals close to her political project and the Sinaloa Cartel.

The incident occurred after the US Department of the Treasury announced sanctions against members of a network that, according to US authorities, facilitated drug trafficking operations through bribery and political influence.

Among those named is Rafael Buenrostro Martín, a businessman and former official identified in media reports as a promoter of Ramírez’s political project.

The Morena politician refrained from addressing the allegations against her political circle when approached by reporters, according to *Reforma*.

The controversy centers on Buenrostro’s presence at the September 15 event where Morena introduced Ramírez as the state coordinator for the Defense of the Transformation and National Sovereignty.
