An armed group executed three people—including a 15-year-old minor—after storming an avocado packing plant in the community of El Querendal, in the municipality of Salvador Escalante, Michoacán, on the afternoon of Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
According to local authorities, several hitmen carrying high-powered weapons arrived at the facility in a pickup truck. After exiting the vehicle, they entered the premises and fired at point-blank range at the workers present before fleeing in an unknown direction.
Workers at the facility and local residents called for assistance from security forces and emergency services via the 9-1-1 emergency line. Upon arrival, paramedics and police officers found two men dead; they were identified by their families as Salvador and José Trinidad, both employees of the avocado plant.
While inspecting the premises, first responders provided aid to a 15-year-old adolescent named José, who had sustained serious gunshot wounds. The minor was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment but died minutes after admission due to the severity of his injuries.
Agents and investigators from the Michoacán State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) deployed to the site to process the crime scene, collect spent shell casings, and open an investigation file regarding the triple homicide.
Once field procedures were concluded, forensic personnel removed the bodies for transport to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo). So far, no arrests have been reported, and the motive for the attack has not been established.
