The State Highway Police arrested an American woman who was transporting 59,550 doses of cocaine in a pickup truck, reported Juan Mauro González Martínez, the Secretary of Security and Peace.
On the Morelia-Salamanca highway, the State Police, the Army, and the National Guard inspected a white pickup truck with Texas license plates, driven by a woman accompanied by two minors, the official disclosed.
The driver of the foreign-plated vehicle was detained because she was driving without a seatbelt, he noted.
Inside the vehicle, they discovered “59,550 doses of suspected cocaine hidden in a clandestine compartment beneath the vehicle’s front seats,” he revealed.
“Upon searching the vehicle, a package was first located in the glove compartment, followed by a hidden compartment containing more packages of the same substance,” he specified.
He added that the two minors traveling with the woman were taken into protective custody in accordance with applicable protocols.
The drugs and the woman were placed at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office.
“From September 26, 2024, to April 30, 2026, more than 2.3 million doses of drugs have been seized in Guanajuato, dealing a blow exceeding 712 million pesos to criminal economies,” he concluded.
