The Secretariat of Citizen Protection and Security of the State of Campeche (SPSC) announced via a press release that, after receiving an emergency report, state police officers were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, they located a white compact vehicle bearing bullet holes.
“Upon arriving at the scene, police officers observed four individuals both inside and outside the vehicle; consequently, emergency services were requested. Subsequently, paramedics confirmed that the victims no longer showed signs of life,” the agency detailed in its official bulletin.
Following the confirmation of the deaths, the area was cordoned off to allow forensic experts from the state prosecutor’s office to begin gathering evidence and collecting witness statements that could lead to the identification of those responsible for this attack.
This crime occurs against a backdrop of growing concern regarding the operations of criminal cells in the southern part of the state. Residents of the communities within Calakmul have repeatedly reported being under siege by criminal groups engaged in robbery and extortion.
It is worth noting that, during 2025, the State Attorney General’s Office confirmed the presence in the region of a group identified as “Pura Gente Nueva” (PGN). This criminal cell has been operationally linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), a connection that has prompted intensified surveillance by law enforcement agencies along the state’s borders and in its rural areas.
