David García Ramírez, known as El Pistache, ex-boyfriend of the influencer Manelyk González and one of the alleged former leaders of La Unión Tepito, was released from prison on July 19 after being detained since 2018, although he became publicly known until last Monday, August 24, 2026.
As reported by journalist Carlos Jiménez in the C4 en Alerta program, the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office was unable to prove any crime against him, which allowed his release in 2026.
The capture of El Pistache occurred in October 2018. Elements of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City, in coordination with the Secretariat of the Navy, carried out an operation in the Santa Fe area. The then head of the agency was Omar García Harfuch.
During the operation, García Ramírez was found in a state of intoxication, under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Along with him, the authorities arrested an alleged accomplice nicknamed El Tiguer. Both were carrying weapons and illicit substances, according to information presented by C4 in Alerta.
The authorities secured heavy weapons and managed to locate other alleged members of La Unión Tepito. Among the elements identified, it stands out that the group used to wear tattoos with crossed horns and the legend: “El Pistache de la Muerte.”
