By order of a federal judge, Héctor Luis Palma Salazar—known as “El Güero Palma”—must receive immediate medical attention at the El Altiplano prison, following his complaint that his health had deteriorated without any response from prison authorities.

According to reports, the co-founder of the Sinaloa Cartel had been requesting medical attention since April 13, but such care was not provided to him.

Palma argued that he is suffering from severe pain and ailments that have gone untreated, according to reports filed by journalist Manuel Espino in *El Universal*.

Although he was acquitted of organized crime charges in May 2023, Héctor Luis Palma Salazar remains incarcerated at Federal Center for Social Readaptation No. 1 (“Altiplano”), where he is currently facing criminal proceedings for aggravated homicide in connection with the Pablo de Tavira case.

Judge Daniel Marcelino Niño Jiménez issued the ruling mandating that the prison facility is obligated to provide Palma Salazar with medical services, treatments, and medications in accordance with his medical history.

The inmate filed a *writ of amparo* (constitutional relief petition) in which he cited ailments stemming from three herniated discs, sciatic nerve damage, insomnia, and back and chest pain. Furthermore, he noted a prior diagnosis of skin cancer requiring an annual medical check-up outside the prison—a check-up he reportedly has not received in two years.
