A day of terror and intense armed clashes in the municipal seat of Escuinapa, Sinaloa, claimed the lives of a 14-year-old girl and her 40-year-old uncle, while leaving another woman critically injured. The civilian victims were the targets of a direct armed attack by a group of low-life hitmen as they were rushing to a medical center.
Although most media outlets have reported that they were victims caught in the crossfire between rival groups, the reality is that the thugs attacked the individuals directly; a video posted on the social network X shows the moment the motorcycle arrived at a gas station, where a group of thugs standing on a corner immediately opened fire on them, even moving in to finish them off.
The deceased were identified as Grecia Guadalupe Gallardo Ulloa, 14, and her uncle Ramiro Quintero Ortega, approximately 40. The latter’s wife, Yessica, survived the attack, but her condition is reported as critical due to the injuries she sustained.
According to accounts from residents and family members, the tragedy unfolded around 2:30 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026. The teenager had been stung by a scorpion at her home in the 13 de Septiembre neighborhood.
Faced with the emergency, her aunt and uncle put her on a motorcycle to rush her to the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital.
However, while traveling near a gas station at the southern exit of the city, the family encountered an area where hitmen were directly attacking innocent civilians. At the scene, bursts of gunfire struck all three people on the motorcycle; Grecia Guadalupe and Ramiro died instantly, their bodies left lying on the asphalt.
The violent situation in the municipality began on Sunday night, with reports of constant gunfire, explosions in various areas, and a widespread blackout that plunged several neighborhoods into darkness, sparking panic among the population.
This climate of terror meant that Yessica, the young woman’s aunt, remained wounded beside her relatives’ bodies for four hours without receiving help, as both civilians and rescue workers feared venturing out onto the streets.
“I arrived around 5:00 a.m.; the young woman was pleading for help. I told her, ‘I can’t help you, and no one else can right now; people are afraid.’ I had to move to personally request that an ambulance be sent,” recounted a witness who saw the scene at dawn.
It was not until 6:30 a.m. that Red Cross paramedics, working under dangerous conditions, managed to enter the area to stabilize the woman and transport her to a hospital, where she remains under close medical observation.
The victims’ relatives expressed their deep shock and noted that Grecia Guadalupe was a young woman who attended a special education school. They highlighted the close bond she shared with her aunt and uncle, who had not hesitated to rush to her aid despite the danger on the streets. “She knew she could always count on them, and in the face of the emergency, as always, they were there for her,” family associates stated.
Following confirmation of the fatalities, federal, state, and municipal security forces launched a search operation at the entry points to Escuinapa. Additionally, a permanent security perimeter was established around the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff.
