Colombia’s President-elect, Abelardo de la Espriella, will lead a spiritual retreat in Barranquilla this weekend alongside the ministers, advisors, and high-ranking officials designated to join his government—just days before assuming the presidency on August 7—according to a statement released on Thursday.
According to a message from his press office, the gathering will bring together the full team of the so-called “Patria Milagro” (Miracle Nation) government for the first time and will serve as “a space for reflection, unity, and spiritual preparation before assuming the historic responsibility of governing Colombia.”
The president-elect’s team emphasized that the retreat is “not a ceremonial act,” but rather “the clearest expression of the values that will guide his administration.” They added that “the Miracle Nation is built with faith, teamwork, and the conviction that governing well requires not only technical competence but also humility, a shared purpose, and God’s guidance.”
Prior to the retreat, De la Espriella will continue with regional transition sessions on Thursday and preside over a Council of Ministers meeting with his designated cabinet as part of the preparations for the start of his administration.
