On October 28, the Colombian National Police announced the arrest in Barranquilla of a man and a woman, both Mexican nationals, known by the aliases “La Patrona” and “La Pau.” They are alleged to have served as liaisons between the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Clan del Golfo within Colombian territory.
According to official reports, the arrests were carried out as part of a joint operation involving the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol (DIJIN), the FBI, and the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office, with the intent of facilitating their extradition to the United States.
“Crime does not respect borders, and our response cannot stop at them either,” the Colombian National Police stated in a release accompanying footage of the arrests.
According to the police, the pair coordinated the shipment of cocaine from Colombia to the United States and Europe.
One ton of cocaine was intercepted during Operation “Lanza Roja”
The Colombian National Police noted that the arrests were part of Operation “Lanza Roja” (“Red Spear”), which also resulted in the interception of a one-ton shipment of cocaine bound for the United States and dealt a blow to the logistical infrastructure of transnational drug trafficking.
The police highlighted this seizure as one of the operation’s key outcomes, alongside the arrest of the two Mexican nationals.
