Jonathan Samuel Meléndez Ochoa, 38, keyboardist, composer and founding member of the Mexican synth-pop band Camilo Séptimo, was found shot dead alongside four members of his household in an apartment in the Grand Viure residential complex, in the Bosque/Zona Esmeralda area of Atizapán de Zaragoza, State of Mexico.

Authorities with the State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office (FGJEM) said the killings took place between approximately 5:30 and 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 1. The bodies were discovered in the early hours of Wednesday, September 2, after a friend of Meléndez alerted police — the musician had reportedly told him earlier that day that he was meeting with a business associate with whom he had ongoing tensions, and asked the friend to notify authorities if he didn’t hear back.

The victims:

•Jonathan Meléndez, 38 — keyboardist, composer and producer for Camilo Séptimo

•Ana Paola, 35 — his wife, four to five months pregnant

•Sofía, 3 — their daughter

•An unnamed 21-year-old domestic worker

•The family’s dog
