An Argentine TV network aired an editorial presenting what it deemed the ‘starting eleven’ of figures who promoted ‘Argentinophobia’ during the 2026 World Cup—a list that included Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
Journalist Jonathan Viale—known for his staunch pro-government stance and alignment with Javier Milei’s administration—appeared in a viral clip from his editorial for the channel *Todo Noticias*. In it, he presented a ‘starting eleven’—framed like a soccer lineup—of figures who allegedly stoked hatred against Argentina, the team that lost the final to Spain.
In the segment titled “The Trend of Bashing Argentina,” the journalist listed the names making up this ‘starting eleven.’
“That is what a large part of this ‘woke’ world is doing against Argentina—which has become the trendy enemy. Athletes, actors, singers, journalists, famous politicians… they picked out 10, 15, 20 people,” he said, before listing the ‘starting eleven.’
“New York [Council Member] Zohran Mamdani. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. It’s a team, right? Rosalía is there. American actor Samuel L. Jackson—Hollywood.
“The Chilean Pedro Pascal. The influencer Speed, who was saying this throughout the World Cup. Ibai Llanos, the Spaniard. Egypt’s coach, Hossam Hassan. Porn actress Mia Khalifa. British journalist Piers Morgan,” Viale summarized, subsequently taking the time to explain the reasons for labeling each of them a promoter of ‘Argentinophobia.’
