Sandra Cuevas reappeared on social media after undergoing one or more surgeries, her face bandaged and accompanied by messages about a personal transformation process she described as a new beginning.
The former mayor of the Cuauhtémoc borough had informed her followers that she was going into surgery and—provided the procedure went smoothly—would be back in touch in about 15 hours.
“I’m going into surgery. God willing, if everything goes well, I’ll see you in about 15 hours,” she wrote before going offline. Her absence sparked speculation about her health, though the images she posted upon her return dispelled any doubts: the bandages, the nasal splint, and the compression garments on her face and torso indicated cosmetic procedures.
The first video she uploaded on August 24 showed her with her face covered in bandages, a splint on her nose, and wearing a white gown. The accompanying text was straightforward: “Today I choose my health, my happiness, and a new beginning full of strength,” wrote Cuevas Nieves.
